The HP DV6 is an excellent modern laptop that would be perfect for almost anyone. HP hasn't put a lot of obscure extras in here that increase the price unnecessarily. Likewise they haven't skimped on the important details. The Intel i5 processor isn't top of the line, but is about as good as you're going to get in this price range of laptops. I run pretty taxing software (Adobe Photoshop, basic video editing on a variety of programs, Logos Bible Software) and the processor computer handles them easily. 4 GB of RAM is sufficient for most users' needs, allowing you to run plenty of programs side-by-side. The video card easily handles most non-gaming functions; I do wish it were a little more robust, but is more than sufficient for most general uses.

The advertised features of the DV6-6116NR that set it apart from others are
-Low light web cam: This feature works pretty well. I compared it to two other webcams I have and compared it to my iPad webcam, and it functioned a little better than all of them in low light.
-Bluetooth: Easy to use. Connected immediately without any difficulty to my bluetooth stereo headphones. Love having wireless sound from my laptop.

And finally, MY FAVORITE,
-Coolsense: Basically, Coolsense protects your lap from the super high temperatures that laptops can generate. I have gotten in the habit of placing something between my laptops and the back of my legs to to keep from getting burnt (or at least uncomfortable). So this feature was what I was most excited about trying out, even though I was skeptical. Does it keep you laptop cool? No. But it does keep it much cooler than others. I ran a test where I kept the CPU at near 100% levels for 3 hours while I worked on the laptop. It definitely got warm, even uncomfortably so, but never so hot that it hurt. And with more reasonable processor use, i.e. just normal everyday use, I can keep the computer directly on my lap even in shorts where it is coming into contact with bare leg. HP did well with Coolsense

This laptop was a little larger than I expected, but I was still content with it. The screen is just beautiful and the keys are easy to use. The sound can be raised quite high through the built in speakers, which was an extra plus for me. The disc drive worked great, no problems with that. Comes with a built in webcam, I am not sure it really is HD though, it looks good but not HD good. Naturally with all this stuff the battery will drain fast. From the times I'v used it at medium brightness writing reports and whatnot it gave me about 4 to 5 hours. It really depends on how you use it. Overall it's a great laptop if complete portability is not your reason for buying it.

I started buying hp laptops about 5 years ago, I bought 5 of them over the years for myself and my kids. One of the reasons I started buying them was because the service was great. The first one I bought the motherboard crapped out a month after the computer was out of warranty (a warranty that had been extended by the company because of this problem). The second one was for my son, the screen broke within the first year, they repaired it and it lasted about another year. The replacement I bought for him the screen broke after 15 months. The last hp laptop I bought (and the last one I will ever buy) the hard drive broke after 11 months. I had to use the hp chat function to diagnose it because you can't understand a word their foreign phone support says. They told me they would send me a box to send it back since it is still under warranty. That was three days ago, I just got off the phone with them, they still haven't even bothered to send the box.

This company is seriously broken, I wouldn't be surprised to see it go bk

An update, here it is now 8 days later and I just got off the phone with them, the guy in India said he doesn't understand why the box hasn't gone out, I asked to speak to a supervisor and he said I would have to call back in an hour.

I have purchased hp dv6-6116nr laptop and very next day I have returned due to bad pixel found in the screen. When I changed my desktop wallpaper then suddenly I saw that there is one bad pixel in the screen means one pixel was white and it was clearly displaying on light color wallpaper.
Even I have return and thanks to Amazon they have refunded my money but I will suggest that whenever you will buy any product then verify it completely after receiving.
