I have a Kinesis at home and a Goldtouch at work. Of the two, I prefer the Kinesis for a couple of reasons. I can separate the keyboard halves with the Kinesis, allowing for more positioning flexibility. I much prefer the feel of the Kinesis keyboard - the touch of the keyboard, or the give of the keyboard, feels better than the Goldtouch.

In retrospect I would not get the VIP Base since I am not using it at the moment. The VIP base raises the keyboard up too high for my situation.

I wish the Kinesis had little flip feet that would provide a bit of a raise for the keyboard.

As an additional bonus, the Kinesis has special keys for the Macintosh.5 of 5 people found the following review helpful:

5.0 out of 5 stars Great ergonomics. A few days to get use to but awesome!, August 12, 2010

I highly recommend this keyboard. I am a project manager and for a very long time used normal non-ergonomic keyboards without any issues. A couple of years ago I began to feel pain and serious fatigue in my wrists while typing. I tried this keyboard because my boss used it and liked it. It took a few days to be able to type on it without making a lot of mistakes but once I got used to it I can type faster than ever. The pain in my writsts immediately went away. This keyboards are pricey but they do the job for sure.

I have no complaints about this keyboard other than the cost.found the following review helpful:

I can't live without this keyboard. I spend countless hours a day on the computer. So much so that with using a normal keyboard, my fingers (specifically my left pinky finger begin to go numb). Probably a bad sign.

But not with this keyboard!

This is the second Kinesis Freestyle keyboard I have purchased. The first was for my Windows computer, and now I switched to Mac, so I bought this one.

Great built quality. Looks pretty good, despite looking a bit odd (being split in half).

Features all of the normal Apple keys. i.e. volume controls, pause, play, dashboard.

So far no complaints.

If you're even a decent typist, the learning curve is nothing.

UPDATE:

My Mission Control Key (F3) wouldn't work when I got this out of the box. (software issue, not hardware). Solution below:

To fix this, just go in to Settings > Keyboard > Mission Control > Then double click on the current key combination. Once highlighted, enter the F3 key, and it should be all set!

I'm using the latest Mac OS (Lion), so that's probably why there is any issue.
