---------------
I use this PC to play "Guild Wars". Its in-game performance is beautiful, & I am quite happy with this purchase. For what it can do, I feel this model offers a lot of bang for the buck, making it a very good value for its price level. The processing speed is wonderful, making it a very good multi-tasker.
I bought mine directly through Amazon (meaning, no 3rd party Amazon vendor), & after several botched attempts to order a PC through various Amazon vendors & other sellers online - I encountered NO problems ordering & receiving this PC from Amazon, itself.
One major con for this PC, however, is the complete absence of extra PCI-E expansion slots. There is one 1 full-size PCI-E x 16 slot in this PC1, & it already holds the GeForce video card. The integrated audio card really isn't a bad sounding card once you tweak the settings to your satisfaction...at least compared to my old SoundBlaster Audigy 24 bit. But it is worth knowing that it has no "What You Hear" feature to record sound off the net directly through the sound card. So if you want to change Realtek out, & replace it with a super-fantastic audio card of your own choice - you're not going to be able to do so, as there is no card slot to put it in. And if it dies on the motherboard, you're going to be without sound. There are 2 mini PCI-E x 1 slots available for use, & that's it. There are no old school PCI slots in this machine either. If the audio on the card dies, I'm not sure what I'd do for this model. I didn't take off a Star for this, because it's my own fault I didn't realize that the one PCI-E x 16 slot in the machine was already in use. But I did want to make other buyers aware of this.
This PC does not come with an internal modem, but it does have a wireless card that will connect to modems wirelessly, or to any routed modem directly by its RJ-45 jack. This makes home networking a snap. Also, the specs don't seem to reflect this, but this model has an "easy swap" SATA drive bay with a pull-out drawer that will hold an extra hard drive up to 2 TB in size, 6GB speed, according to Acer tech support.
It does not come with a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium on disk, & the instructions will tell you to immediately burn a set of "factory default recovery disks", but you can buy a complimentary copy of Windows 7 from Acer by phone for $20 if you are still under warranty. There is a certain quantity of pay-to-use junkware pre-installed to Windows, but not an overwhelming amount to remove.
This PC runs whisper quiet. It sits next to me on the desk, & I rarely hear the fan or hard drive run. Cleaning Predator's insides is easy, as there are 2 large fans with easy to wipe off blades, a lot of open space, & no air scoop with tall metal cooling stacks to jam-pack full of pet hair. The upward facing USB ports & card slots across the top are dust catchers, so I put clear tape across them when not in use. The top of the case features a handle in the back for easier carrying, & although it slants backward, I can still safely stack an external drive & modem on top.
The laptop-style keyboard this PC comes with is small, thin, lightweight, & it's springy Chicklet-style keys are surprisingly easy to type on. The Function keys across the top enable it to sleep, search, email, & control Windows Media Player without requiring an installation disk to use them. I expected to give it away, but I enjoy typing on it & plan to keep it. I don't find it a great gaming keyboard for Guild Wars, however. The laser mouse is no great shakes & has no side buttons, but it does have a scroll wheel.
