The battery can be extended by switching to battery saving mode, which I do not use much, but when I have it really extended battery life. Four hours between charges when using wifi and not the battery saving mode a lot to me. The fan is very quiet and  really cool. The lap top is very dark brown almost black. Outer shell is a textured matte surface that is a nice change very shiny. Screen and the glossy screen is very bright and clear. The keyboard has a nice feel and includes a number pad which is a big bonus. The touchpad works well for me, but I like touchpads. It starts quickly and nonesscential program covers only some of which I promptly deleted. Internet explorer opened quickly for the first time and just as my chrome download soon .. This is a good computer to do basic things for home and school work. However, if you to play many computer games, it would be advisable to ensure you have sufficient memory and the graphics are very good. I enjoy playing and downloading a lot of computer games and most if not all of them are not very compatible with this system.I thought, whatever, just $ 369 I can use the machine for things like the Internet or typing in a Word document. I saw the specs and not just how much Asus crammed into a monster, but fascinated by the price! I'm guessing that $ 369 should have been a mistake. I can get some games to play surf the Internet, editing movies / music and movies in HD stream, put on my machine and my giant HD-TV. Hope this helps!
